I've only just started on my treatment with Martina Zou - for atrial fibrillation - but so far I am happy and impressed. I found her diagnosis convincing and the treatment so far - accupuncture and chinese herbs - appears to be getting things moving.

Lorraines Health Clinic - Acupuncture Clinic in Ireland

Lorraine's Health Clinic

564 Howth Road, Raheny, 5
I have been practising acupuncture for 15 years and specialise in Acupuncture for Fertility and Gynaecology. I also have diplomas in Nutrition and Stress Management which I find extremely useful in the area of Fertility. I am also afiliated to Zita West who has written many books on Fertility issues. I also use acupuncture for Morning Sickness, Symphysis Pubis pain, Induction and many other problems associated with pegnancy. I also do a lot of Pre-birth Acupuncture which helps to promote natural labour. These treatments can help prepare a womans body for birth in particular preparing the cervix and pelvis for labour. This can result in an easier and more efficient labour. Of course I use acupuncture for other problems also such as Sciatica, Arthritis, Sinusitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome,Insomnia, Stress and many more. Allergy Testing is also very popular in our clinic. I test for over 100 foods and substances and the results can be had within45 minutes. This test is pain free!

Mei Zen Acupuncture Clinic

Duke Street, Market Square, Castlebar, F23 Y702
Since 1996 I have been practicing various forms of Complementary medicine. I am passionate in my belief that Acupuncture can and does bring fantastic results. I opened the Mei Zen Clinic of Acupuncture in 2009. I'm registered with the which is one of the longest established and is the largest regulatory body for acupuncture and Chinese medicine in Ireland. What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used systems of healing in the world. Originating in China some 3,500 years ago, only in the last three decades has it become popular in the United States Traditional Chinese medicine holds that there are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, which are connected by 20 pathways (12 main, 8 secondary) called meridians. These meridians conduct energy, or qi (pronounced "chi"), between the surface of the body and its internal organs. Each point has a different effect on the qi that passes through it. Qi is believed to help regulate balance in the body. It is influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang, representing positive and negative energy and forces in the universe and the human body. Acupuncture is believed to keep the balance between yin and yang, thus allowing for the normal flow of qi throughout the body and restoring health to the mind and body. Does it hurt? Unlike hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are solid and hair-thin, and they are not designed to cut the skin. They are also inserted to much more shallow

The nature of Acupuncture and TCM allows it to treat a wide variety of conditions; however, it is generally used as the treatment of choice for sprains and strains, allergies, poor digestion, menstrual problems, menopause, headaches, neck and back pain, fatigue, stress, and other minor and self-limiting illnesses. Acupuncture can also be used to promote general well-being and as a preventative method to illness. It can increase energy, motivation and uplift spirits by relaxing the mind and body. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an official report listing the conditions it feels would benefit from the treatment of acupuncture. I have listed the most common ailments treated by acupuncture. This is not the exhausted list so please do contact the clinic to discuss your ailment in detail and how you can benefit from a course of treatments.

Since December 2012 I am  an associate practitioner of the women’s natural health practice in the UK run by Dr Trevor Wing. This means that I successfully completed my advanced training with merit in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine  to include  all women’s health issues from gynae, fertility, pregnancy and post partum issues. My training brought me up to date on the latest from China and has also given me invaluable information on the  latest east and west research and western treatments and protocols. The course had a very heavy emphasis on natural care but also a key understanding of knowing when and what to ask regarding western tests and treatments, knowing how to work in an integrated western sitting whilst treating at the same time with acupuncture and herbal treatment.

I am looking forward to my next treatmentAngela, Ireland, 25 05 22

I go to Iwona to get a full body massage. I have a problem with my neck and shoulder. So I decided I would get reflexology this time from her. She explains the treatment in relation to reflexology, but also works in a holistic way to provide an enjoyable /relaxing /healing experience. She is very passionate about what she can offer her clients. I wasn't sleeping great and I had a great sleep after my treatment. I am looking forward to my next treatment. I have no hesitation in recommending Iwona to others who are open to find ways of helping improve their health and wellbeing. Thank you Iwona, it is a lovely experience that I will always look forward to.

Acupuncture is a therapeutic practice that originated in China thousands of years ago. In western medicine, the goal is often to diagnose disease and treat it specifically; in acupuncture, the goal is to strengthen the entire mind and body, supporting our inherent resilience and resistance to disease. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy (Qi, pronounced ‘chee’) moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels (meridians) beneath the skin that connect the interior and exterior of the body, and the internal systems to each other. Qi consists of equal and opposite qualities – Yin and Yang. When Qi becomes blocked or disrupted, illness can result. Acupuncture aims to bring all systems into balance by inserting fine needles into the meridians. It can also be used to complement conventional medicine. What can acupuncture treat? Acupuncture has been used to treat a range of conditions including: *       Anxiety and depression. *       Arthritis and rheumatism. *       Asthma. *       High blood pressure. *       Menstrual cramps. *       Skin problems. *       Pain relief in childbirth. *       Addiction – smoking, alcohol and drugs. What happens during an acupuncture session? If it is your first session, the acupuncturist will assess your general health to ensure that you receive the most effective treatment. They may enquire about your current symptoms, treatment you have received so far, medical history, your close family’s medical history, diet, digestive system, sleeping patterns and emotional state.
