What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. My lower denture which had been mounted on the bar system had broken and it was decided to make a new denture and mounting system. This proved quite difficult and time-consuming, however throughout this treatment Dr Nick was keeping me informed and mindful of my trepidation. Towards the completion of this treatment Nick spent time over and above what had been allocated to make sure the fit of the denture was perfect, and for that I am very grateful. All in all I felt Forest & Ray are very friendly and professional Dental surgery and in particular Dr Nick.

I attended this clinic after being up all night with severe toothache. I have to admit I have a major phobia of dentists !!! I was so lucky to have got an emergency appointment on a Sunday! From the moment I entered the surgery waiting room a quivering wreck, I was greeted by a lovely gentleman who tried to put me at ease. When the lady dentist (Reena) called my name I was immediately put as ease, seating reassured and gently step by step spoken through my treatment. I must admit after being such a baby!
