What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

I have taken up dental insurance and go regularly to the dentist for check up and to see the hygienist. This has been a very practical and cost-effective way for me to treat my teeth. I travelled from York to this clinic because I had previous experience of the hygienist, Elizabeth. My dentist is Mrs Mellor and I received friendly and competent treatment from both. The reception area is welcoming and very efficient. They make good use of technology to send reminders near the appointment time. As I have lived in different parts of the country I have had a number of dentists. Their punctuality has not always been good, but Ashby dental practice is invariably on time.

After suffering from a painful wisdom tooth for quite some time, Abbey Dental Care took care of me. I saw Dr Bailey who was fantastic with me, he prescribed much-needed antibiotics to sort the infection and then referred me to see Dr Joe Gray who extracted the tooth. I was extremely nervous as this was not a straightforward extraction, in terms of how the tooth was growing, where it was growing and also with bone growing over the tooth. The very talented Dr Gray made sure I was comfortable and giving me as many breaks as I needed during the procedure. I can not recommend Abbey Dental Care enough and certainly the Dr's I saw and not to forget the dental nurses who also was fantastic. Along with pleasant reception staff who was also very kind. Made sure I was looked after throughout. Thank Abbey Dental Care
