Treatment Duration: two visits. 60 minutes for crown preparation and 30 minutes for crown fit. Crowns or caps as they are sometimes called are tooth shaped covers or caps which fit over a badly damaged/decayed tooth. Dental crowns can dramatically improve the appearance of a person’s smile. Crowns can be used for many reasons: Cover broken/cracked teeth Cover severely decayed teeth where it cannot be saved by a filling or restorative material To hold a bridge in place Cover discoloured teeth Many people require crowns because they do not like how their natural teeth look and wish to dramatically improve the appearance and look of their smile Crowns are made from the following materials: Metal or PFM (porcelain fused to metal): Particularly recommended for molars. All ceramic: Used mostly at the front of the mouth where aesthetics are a priority. The shade of the crown is matched to your natural teeth. Teeth whitening prior to having your crown shade taken is sometimes recommended. What to expect when you visit White Smile Dental? Once you have made your appointment you will be sent a reminder text the day before with our your appointment details and our address. Upon arrival you will be asked to fill out a new patient form with your medical history and take a seat in our comfortable waiting area. He will listen to your requirements and together you will make a treatment plan outlining the time frame for the procedure and also exact cost. Your crown/s will take two visits to complete. During your first visit impressions and xrays will be taken to be sent to the laboratory to be made. You will be given a temporary crown to wear if needs be.
