What are Mini Implants?

Mini implants are small screws measuring 1.8 to 3mm that can be placed in one day for patients. They also act as a tooth root and can retain crowns and bridges. Placing a mini implant is a minimally invasive procedure. The patient’s existing denture is placed on the implants or a new denture is fabricated.  Mini implants do not need as much bone structure as regular implants. Mini implants are also cheaper than regular implants.

How is the Mini Implant procedure performed?

The dentist drills a hole in the bone of the patient's jaw. The mini implant is screwed into the bone.  The denture is then fitted with metal fasteners that fasten the denture to the ball shape of the head of the mini implant. Mini implants are placed using local anaesthesia or intra-venous sedation. Patients should not feel any pain during the procedure.

Can I travel by air after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients can travel by air one day after mini implants are placed. They should ask the advice of their dentist before embarking on their journey.

What is the recovery time after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients recover from a mini implant procedure within a day.

What care is required after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients should use a soft brush and rinse their mouths gently after mini implants are inserted. They should not smoke or drink alcohol. They should take all prescribed medications correctly. Patients can apply ice packs to the swollen area to bring down the swelling. They should eat soft food or follow a liquid diet for at least a week. They should avoid eating hard food products. They should sleep with their head elevated until the swelling reduces.

What are the alternatives to the placement of Mini Implants?

Traditional dentures and partial dentures, also called fixed or removable bridges, are alternatives to mini implants.

Mini Implants
Mini implants consist of a tiny titanium post, roughly the size of a wooden toothpick, which is placed into your jawbone and acts like a natural tooth root. Your jawbone bonds with them over time, making them exceptionally strong and long lasting. Your dentures are fitted with small circular 'o' rings which snap onto the implant, giving you a tight fitting and completely reliable denture system that allows you to speak and eat with confidence.
Dental Crowns €700 - €800
Please enquire. Dental crowns can be used to replace the top part of a tooth when it has become irreparably damaged but the root is still healthy. The crowns are created in a dental laboratory using the very latest ceramic material by skilled craftsmen to give the combination of a perfect fit and completely natural appearance.

I now have a beautiful set of teethMary, Indonesia, 23 10 19

Having struggled with ill-fitting dentures for years, I was delighted to be recommended to Máirtín & given the opportunity to put things right! Our upcoming daughter's wedding gave me added encouragement. It was not an easy journey, starting out with removals, bone grafting & implants. All stages were handled with great care & attention to detail & made easier with up to date treatment. Conscious sedation was a huge benefit. I have to say that my mouth did look like a battlefield at times but it was worth it all in the end. I now have a beautiful set of teeth, carefully built to fit seamlessly into my mouth & not a bit out of place. My husband also had similar & successful treatment. Thank you Máirtín for a very successful journey As I munch on my apple. I would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone.
