So much MORE than expected

5 50 Dental Crowns, Veneers

Absolutely Superb. So much MORE than expected. I was hit by a car whilst riding a bike in San Francisco 17 yrs ago; my left leg & foot were broken and within seven months 4 molars sheared out due to the shock impact of the fall ... other teeth were affected too. $30K and years later these dental works needed redress. SFBay area friends (many) had seen Dr. Alberto Hernandez in Puerta Vallarta in past decade and highly recommended his services and the co$t SAVINGS. omGoodness ... I am so glad I went. I have all new veneers and 2 implants and shall be back for crowns in 4-5 months to stay at the fab Rivera del Rio Hotel, 10-minute walk to Int'nl Dental Center by the sea. THANK YOU, Dr. Hernandez and staff

The hygienist was called to do my cleaning and did a great a job

3 50 Teeth Cleaning

I made an appointment for an X-ray and possible future work. At the time I was informed the price included the X-ray and a consultation with the dentist. When I went for my appointment no X-ray was done due to the dentist not being in the office. The hygienist was called to do my cleaning and did a great a job.

My personal observation was that the office was not very busy for a dental practice and the equipment was not of the latest as one would expect in this age. They did offer to reschedule the X-ray but I had to decline as I would have already left PV by that time which was the following week.

5 50 Porcelain Filling • Paid: $36

We had our teeth cleaned at this clinic and my husband has had a filling replaced. The filling was on a front tooth and I have looked several times and it is nearly impossible to see...terrific job! The cleanings are exactly as they were at home in the US only cheaper. Very thorough.

My first impression of this office is that it is clean. All the dental tools were clean and sanitized and the equipment in the office was as modern as any office I have been in north of the border. Face masks were used and dental gloves. This is a very
conscience practice.

5 50 Teeth Cleaning, Hygienist Session, Porcelain Crown, Mouth Guard, Dentures • Paid: $1500

I had my teeth cleaned ($50 USD) and it was one of the best and easiest I have ever had - the dental hygienist was great. I also had an old crown removed and a new all porcelain crown put in place ($550 USD) - the hardest part of the whole procedure was getting the old crown off. I also had a 4-tooth partial made ($700 USD) and my husband and I both had night guards made ($100 each USD). For a total of $1500 USD we were so very pleased - at my local dentist in the US, the crown alone would have been $1500 for all porcelain. At one point Dr. Hernandez thought I might need a root canal so he set up the appointment and drove me & my husband to meet with the specialist. As luck would have it, it turned out I did not need a root canal. Dr. Hernandez also is so very gentle with his work - he gives the best shot I've ever had from a dentist - I never even felt it.

I first spoke to Dr. Hernandez over the phone and just had an overall good feeling after speaking with him about my procedures. My overall experience with the International Dental Center and Dr. Hernandez was 100% wonderful. The clinic is very clean and he has state of the art equipment. Also, the prices he charges are unheard of, especially in the states. If you are in need of a really great dentist you won't go wrong by going to Dr. Hernandez. I will go back to see him on our next trip to get my teeth whitened. Please check him out and you won't be disappointed.

Because porcelain crowns cover your entire tooth, they often provide good solutions for severe problems i.e. a bad fracture, a large filling, a tooth that has had root canal treatment, and in situations where one or several teeth are missing. When teeth cannot be saved, dental implants and bridges are a great option to replace missing teeth. As with other techniques, crowns can correct a wide range of problems. They are durable and strong, so replacements are needed less often. The difference between crowns and laminates (or porcelain inlays) is that more tooth structure is removed. This is required to allow adequate space for the restorative material to have appropriate strength, esthetics… and healthy gum contour. Pfm crowns.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal dental crowns are somewhat of a hybrid between metal crowns and porcelain crowns. When they are made the dental technician first makes a shell of metal that fits over the tooth. A veneering of porcelain is then fused over this metal (in a high heat oven), giving the crown a white tooth-like appearance. Depending on the requirements of your situation, these crowns are sometimes made where the porcelain veneer only covers those aspects of the crown that is readily visible (meaning the other portions of the crown have a metal surface). In other cases these crowns are pretty much fully surfaced with porcelain.

Temporary Crown - International Dental Center PV

Temporary crowns
Temporary dental crowns are usually cemented into place using "temporary" cement so they can be removed easily at the time of your next dental appointment. Because this cement is not as strong as other types of dental cement, your dentist will probably suggest to you that you take some precautions so not to dislodge your temporary crown.
Resin crowns
A resin crown is made from a special mixture of microscopic particles and cosmetic dental resin. The particles resemble tiny pieces of glass mixed into the resin, which is then cured to harden and strengthen the compound.
Zirconia Crowns:
Zirconia is the best material available for bridges and for creating a strong translucent tooth that rivals all-porcelain crowns. Zirconia crowns are significantly less expensive than all-porcelain crowns, and about the same price as gold-based metal-porcelain crowns (slightly higher than stainless steel). Also, because zirconia substrates can be milled with a laser milling machine, the substrates tend to fit better and are less labor-intensive than either a metal-procelain or all-porcelain solution, providing a superior product with a quicker turn-around at a lower cost.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants - International Dental Center PV
Guaranteed for 1 years. If you are missing a tooth but you are in good general health, with healthy gums and a jawbone that can support an implant, implant treatment may be an option for you. (However, keep in mind that in many cases, third molars called "wisdom teeth" do not require replacement.)Implants offer stability because they fuse to your bone. Integration of the implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some people also find the secure fit more comfortable than conventional substitutes.Health is more a factor than is your age. For example, chronic illnesses, such as diabetes or leukemia, may interfere with healing after surgery. And if you use tobacco, you are at greater risk of experiencing gum disease, which can weaken the bone and tissues needed to support the implant.Candidates for dental implants need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. A thorough evaluation by your dentist will help determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants.

Immediate Implant Placement

Immediate placement of implant
When the tooth has to be extracted, and the implant is a choice of treatment for substitution of removed tooth, immediate placement of implant into extracted site could be done. There are a lot of advantages to this technique. In as classical 2 stage technique described above, after the extraction is done, we would wait for about 6 month for the bone to build up, and then proceed with the implant surgery. The immediate placement of implants eliminates this 6 month waitng period, no second surgery required, healing process of implant (osseointegration) runs as natural process (your body buids up the new bone in the extracted site where the implant placed. There are some limitations though, when this procedure can be done (severe infection, cortical bone lose). We will advise you if the immediate placement of implant is the right procedure for you.

Mini implants
Your denture feels secure and is being held firmly in place thanks to Mini Dental Implants. A small miracle in implant dentistry. And all this in about an hour with no cutting of the gums and no stitches to have removed. This unique procedure can be completed in one visit with virtually no discomfort.
Mini Dental Implants are proving to be the most significant advancement in Implant Dentistry. Tens of thousands of grateful patients bear witness to benefits delivered from the opportunity to obtain a replacement for lost teeth that restores their smiles and confidence. The new Mini Dental Implant technology offers a simple and affordable approach.

3 D Xrays
Regular dental x-rays, your dental films display only two dimensions of your teeth and jaws, the height and width. Usually those techniques do not allow one to determine the thickness and/or the bone space very accurately. The CT-3D examination is distortion free. It demonstrates the actual make-up of your jaw bone as well as providing accurate measurements of the height, width, and thickness for placement of the implants. Due to this sophisticated technology we are able to determine ahead of time precisely what will be found during your surgical procedure.
The CT-3D examination helps to determine whether you are a good candidate for implant reconstruction. The results of this examination means that we will know the exact location of certain

anatomical structures, the contours of your jawbone and the best sites for your implants to be placed. The CT-3D examination means the chances for surprise at surgery are greatly reduced, therefore less operating time and a greater chance for long term success of your case.

Dentures
When all your teeth are missing, a complete denture is used to replace them, whereas if only a few teeth need replacing, a partial denture or overdenture is used. Partial dentures can prevent your existing healthy teeth from shifting following tooth loss.
Dentures are generally fabricated from acrylic resins. With advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, there are a wide variety of materials available for dentures, and your dentist may give you some options.

Overdentures

Overdentures
Overdentures are defined as any removable tooth replacement device that is inserted over existing teeth or their remnants, replacing these teeth with false teeth. Prior to modern dentistry, overdentures were very nearly the universal tooth replacement device since surgical removal of teeth was painful, dangerous, and frequently impossible without modern anesthetics.

$600 - $800

Removable Partial Dentures

Removable partial
A removable partial denture (RPD) is for a partially edentulous dental patient who desires to have replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons, and who cannot have a bridge (a fixed partial denture) for any number of reasons, such as a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge (i.e. distal abutments) or due to financial limitations.
The reason why this type of prosthesis is referred to as a removable partial denture is because patients can remove and reinsert them when required without professional help. Conversely, a "fixed" prosthesis can and should be removed only by a dental professional

Endodontist Consultation

Endodontist Consultation - International Dental Center PV

Endodontist consultation
An Endodontist is a dentist with special training in diagnosing and treating problems associated with the inside of the tooth.
Your doctor will review your past dental and medical history. A dental x-ray will be taken even if you have one from your referring dentist. Different x-ray angles are necessary to reveal possible problems such as decay or an abscess. Also, a series of test, such as hot, cold, biting and percussion (tapping) can be performed on several teeth. Through these tests the dentist will attempt to reproduce your symptoms that will enable him/her to make a proper diagnosis to decide what to do.

$230 - $250

Surgical Extractions

Surgical extraction
Surgical extractions involve the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed, either because they have broken under the gum line or because they have not erupted fully. Surgical extractions almost always require an incision. In a surgical extraction the doctor may elevate the soft tissues covering the tooth and bone and may also remove some of the overlying and/or surrounding bone tissue with a drill or osteotome. Frequently, the tooth may be split into multiple pieces to facilitate its removal.

$400 - $500

Porcelain Filling

Porcelain filling
(ceramic) dental materials include porcelain, ceramic or glasslike fillings and crowns (a.k.a jacket crown, as a metal-free option). They are used as in-lays, on-lays, crowns, and aesthetic veneers. A veneer is a very thin shell of porcelain that can replace or cover part of the enamel of the tooth. Full-porcelain (ceramic) restorations are particularly desirable because their color and translucency mimic natural tooth enamel.
Another type is known as porcelain-fused-to-metal, which is used to provide strength to a crown or bridge.
These restorations are very strong, durable and resistant to wear, because the combination of porcelain and metal creates a stronger restoration than porcelain used alone.

Gum Surgery

Gum surgery
Gums are an important part of our body. They house the teeth which we employ to eat food, the energy currency of our body. Without healthy gums, we cannot expect to have healthy teeth. However, not all of us fully realize this and neglect their well being. This results in to different types of gum diseases which can be cured only through gum surgery.

Gum Contouring and Reshaping

Gum contouring and reshaping
Gum contouring, also known as gum reshaping, is a cosmetic form of dental treatment used to improve the general look of a person’s teeth. It is primarily used in cases where the individual has what is commonly known as ‘gummy smile’. This is a condition in which the gums cover too much of the teeth, usually the front teeth, and this can leave the length of the teeth looking too short, which can affect a person’s general desire to smile.
Such a condition may be caused due to genetics, health circumstances or as a result of certain high blood pressure prescriptions. This can have an affect on an individual’s self-confidence and may see them do their best not to smile in public. Thankfully, gum contouring is a dental treatment which is painless and able to solve the problem of ‘gummy smile’ through quick and painless treatment

$300 - $600

Soft Tissue Grafts

Soft tissue graft
*There are three different types of soft-tissue grafts:
°Free gingival grafts
°Connective-tissue grafts
°Pedicle grafts
In a free gingival graft, a small strip of flesh is removed from the roof of the mouth (palate). The tissue, called the "graft," is then stitched to the gum tissue in the area being treated. A free graft is often used for people who naturally have little gum tissue around their teeth and need to have the gums enlarged.

In a connective-tissue graft, a flap is cut in the roof of the mouth. The flap forms a "trap door" shape. Some tissue from under the flap is removed. The flap is then stitched back down. The tissue that was removed is known as subepithelial connective tissue. This graft tissue is slipped under the gum tissue that surrounds an exposed root. Then it is stitched into place. This is the most commonly used procedure for treating root exposure.

A pedicle graft uses a flap of tissue from the gum of a tooth next to the one with recession. The flap is partially cut away, with one edge still attached. This flap is called a pedicle. It is slid sideways to cover the exposed root and stitched into place. A pedicle graft may be more successful than a free gingival graft. Thats because at least some of the blood vessels that feed the grafted section remain in place. However, a pedicle graft can be done only in certain cases. There must be a tooth next to the one being treated that has enough gum tissue to "share."

With all of these procedures, many periodontists will use a periodontal dressing. This is a soft material with a texture like modeling clay. It will be used to cover and protect the grafted tissue for the first week or two of healing.

Implant Dentist Consultation

Implant Dentist Consultation - International Dental Center PV

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.
Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. You know that your confidence about your teeth affects how you feel about yourself, both personally and professionally. Perhaps you hide your smile because of spaces from missing teeth. Maybe your dentures dont feel secure. Perhaps you have difficulty chewing. If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to smile, speak and eat again with comfort and confidence, there is good news! Dental implants are teeth that can look and feel just like your own! Under proper conditions, such as placement by a periodontist and diligent patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime. Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for implants.

Inlay or Onlay

Guaranteed for 1 years. An inlay is similar to a filling and lies inside the cusp tips of the tooth. They are custom-made to fit the prepared cavity and are then cemented into place. An onlay is a more extensive reconstruction that covers one or more cusps of a tooth. Onlays are indicated in situations where a substantial reconstruction is required. However, more of the tooth structure can be conserved compared to the placement of a crown

Composite Resin Inlay or Onlay

Inlays and Onlays
Inlays are similar to fillings but the entire work lies within the cusps (bumps) on the chewing surface of the tooth. Onlays are more extensive than inlays, covering one or more cusps. Onlays are sometimes called partial crowns.

Gold Inlay or Onlay

Gold inlay or onlay
In dentistry, an inlay is an indirect restoration (filling) consisting of a solid substance (as gold or porcelain) fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented into place.[1] An onlay is the same as an inlay, except that it extends to replace a cusp. Crowns are onlays which completely cover all surfaces of a tooth
Gold Inlays are the most reliable dental fillings. The filling edges can be extremely thin adapted so that it optimally finishes with the edge. Gold itself is a very well-tolerated material. So if the durability of your fillings is the most important thing to you, you ought to choose golden Inlays. Gold is the material of choice , long clinical experience practically excludes side effects. Gold is not only an ageless elegant material but also a material whose precise processing is mastered in every detail by the dental technician. A lot of gold cast Inlays are 15 or even more years in the mouth of the patient. They are produced so that they exactly fit into the chewing surface of the antagonist tooth and they are delivered in a highly polished manner. The dentist applies the Inlay with reliable and also decades of proved dental cement. Thinly running out filling edges offer a perfect ending with the edge and bacteria and food debris have the slightest chances because gold is supposed to have an antibacterial effect. The material properties of gold alloys permit also a later polishing of the edges of the filling.

Porcelain Inlay or Onlay

Porcelain Inlays are undoubtedly the most beautiful alternative to amalgam. In contrast to gold, the ceramic Inlays are easy to break. Where aesthetic-cosmetic aspects have absolute priority and dental surface as well as interdental spaces have to be rebuilt, the indication area for porcelain fillings is located. These Inlays are not cemented but are pasted in, in a time-consuming procedure. Through a cauterisation of the dental enamel a tight linkage between Inlay and the tooth is attained. Since long-term experience with these adhesives are not available, an ideal mouth hygiene of the patient has to be presumed for long-term success. Practice nevertheless has shown that they cannot compete with the durability of gold Inlays, since porcelain is a rigid material and the thermal extension does not match our dental tissue, which means it comes to micro-fine cracks between the tooth and the Inlay, where caries can settle down after years.

Laser Teeth Whitening
In-office teeth whitening methods are performed with bleaching gel and laser light. This is a good method of teeth whitening for sensitive teeth, as the process may be closely monitored by the cosmetic dentist. The teeth are carefully isolated from the lips and gums, and then a bleaching gel is applied to them. A laser is used in conjunction with the gel to accelerate and amplify the tooth whitening process.
