A dental crown is a tooth shaped covering used as a cap over damaged teeth. The purpose of placing a crown is to improve the appearance and strength of the damaged tooth. Crowns are also placed over surgically inserted dental implants.

Wow, can only say thanks to all at Dr Sunil s clinic. Had broken my upper denture. broken of a screw from implant lower than the gum. had infants that did not match what was in or available to me. So met doctor himself he walked my wife and I threw what was offered and what could be done. all this after trying three others that offered to try and get me in because so close to Xmas. So pricing could always be better except when dealt with the care from all ends of a great team. drives for pick up and drop-offs. payments taken in two countries money Canadain and USA funds met with same day rates. no mark up for in case ones. My denturist I wish I could spell his name. was so good . have had over three plates and four temps from office in the USA. This was the finished product and my mouth and how my voice is back to the same. I can only say do you self a favour. Book an appointment, be meant with safety from coveting protocols followed to help full staff. Thank you, the doctor will see you in the new year.

As we age, many of us find ourselves with teeth that are no longer structurally sound. Root canals, lost fillings, decay below a filling, chipping and cracking of the enamel are all things that can lead to large scale defects in a tooths surface. A dental crown is needed when a tooth is badly broken down - either a cusp has broken off, or there are large old fillings or a large portion of decay. A filling is used to fill a small portion of the tooth - a crown when the tooth has extensive damage. There are basically two types of crowns, those all porcelain/ceramic (metal free) crowns and porcelain fused to metal crowns. Before the dental crown can be placed on the tooth, our dentist will file the tooth down to make room for your crown. Then an impression of the tooth and the surrounding teeth will be made. While the dental crown is being created, a temporary acrylic crown will be placed on the tooth. When the permanent dental crown is ready, the temporary crown is replaced during a separate visit. Dental crowns can last anywhere from averagely 10 to 20 years.

The rule of thumb is that if youre healthy enough to have a tooth extracted, youre probably healthy enough to receive dental implants.

In dentistry, crown and bridge refer to the restoration of natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed, lost, undergone root canal treatment, or when a permanent teeth color change is desired by the patient, or when tooth restoration is not possible with materials generally used in inlays / onlays (partial tooth restoration), or for veneer.
