What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. Dental surgeons perform bone grafting procedures to hold the implant in place for patients who do not have enough surrounding bone structure, or graft bone to help connect implants to the maxillary sinuses on either side of the nose when placing dental implants in the upper jaw.

How long does it take to fit a Dental Implant?

The time taken for inserting dental implants depends on the bone structure and needs of each individual patient. Some implant procedures take about 15 minutes while others may take up to two hours. Implant procedures are performed under local anaesthesia. Intravenous sedation is used for the comfort of anxious patients.

How long does it take to recover after getting a Dental Implant?

Recovery time after a dental implant procedure may take four to six weeks or up to 12 weeks for some patients. Patients can travel one day after the insertion of a single dental implant. Patients who require multiple dental implants or supporting surgical procedures should wait for around two weeks before travelling. They should meet the dental surgeon to get a certification of being fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

Patients should rest and avoid exertion after surgery. They should also avoid vigorously brushing their teeth or rinsing their mouth.

I chose Tower dental for 3 implants and zirconia crowns and I was very pleased with the price and the quality of service. I paid extra for sedation for my implant work and was amazed at how smoothly everything went. Beware of cheap imitations because this clinic offers quality dental work at a really good value. As soon as you walk into the clinic you can appreciate the quality of the place and you meet the super professional staff who provide an excellent service. I won't hesitate to recommend them to anybody.

Just got back to the UK after having 12 implants. We were treated to outstanding service, the staff are very helpful and explained all the treatment and made sure we understood everything. Great communication letting us know when we would be picked up to go to the clinic. The clinic I would give a 10 out of 10 with high-end technology and equipment. I had gastric sleeve surgery on 26 January 2023. I was obese on the BMI scale, however my reason for the surgery was arthritis pain in my knees and fibromyalgia. The whole experience was fantastic from the initial communication through to today. All staff I came into contact with were extremely knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. I am no longer classed as obese nor overweight on the BMI scale and my arthritis and fibromyalgia do not bother me daily anymore. It was, and continues to be, the best decision I have made for myself.

The implant is not a fearsome and difficult treatment, as sometimes exaggerated by patients who have had a bad experience. In fact, it is even easier than a simple tooth extraction. The implantation procedure takes 6 minutes. The same anesthesia used during dental filling is administered to the patient, and it is the completely painless procedure. It is easier compared to tooth extraction.  The success of the implant is directly proportional to the quality of the bone. With the developing technology, it is now possible to place implants even in the presence of inadequacy in the bone, by using a bone graft. With volumetric tomography, successful implantation  can be achieved in many cases where bone structure is challenging. Depending on the bone condition, the superstructure can be completed one or more weeks after placing the implant, and the tooth becomes usable again.  If there is a gap after tooth extraction, it is recommended that the implant closes this gap as soon as possible. Because following tooth extraction, the bone in the area begins to dissolve slowly, and this can result in a large depression in the bone. However, the placement of the implant stops this destruction and ensures a healthy bone. Applying the implant treatment soon after tooth extraction will enhance the quality of the treatment and reduces its cost.  The implant can be applied to anyone except those receiving radiotherapy, or with the specific bone disease. The implant can be applied to the diabetic patient regardless of their blood glucose, after testing for HbA1c, and to cardiac patients following antibiotic prophylaxis. The implant can be conveniently applied to young adults who have completed their oral and mandibular development, or to elderly people with proper bone quality.

It was a personal recommendation from a friend in London that took me to this clinic, I am living in Bodrum but my friend from the UK found them :)).
