Simon Marsh trained at Trinity College Cambridge and the Clinical School, Addenbrookes Hospital.  He was one of the few students to be awarded the William Harvey Studentship in consecutive years.  His MD thesis, from the University of Cambridge focused on the role of growth factors in breast cancer.  He is Senior Consultant Surgeon in the Colchester Breast Unit in Essex and has been a member of The London Breast Clinic since 1999.  In 2006 he halved his workload within the NHS to dedicate more time to The London Breast Clinic. He retains an active interest in cancer research and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer to the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the University of Essex.

Following qualification he developed an interest in sports medicine and has advised on many sports, including equestrian events, motorcycle speedway and rugby.  This expertise has ensured his success since joining The Gilmore Groin and Hernia Clinic where he has become adept and experienced in assessing, diagnosing and treating patients not only with hernia of all types but also with Gilmore’s Groin.

Fiona MacNeill qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1983. She was appointed as a Consultant in 1996, firstly at Colchester and more recently at The Royal Marsden Hospital London. Fiona joined The London Breast Clinic in 1996. She is the Chairman of the Education and Training Committee, The Royal College of Surgeons of England and her main areas of interest are oncoplastic reconstructive surgery and sentinel lymph node training. In 2006 her educational and training achievements were recognised with the Silver Scalpel award. Fiona lectures nationally and internationally and is a member of a number of national and department of health committees.

Listed in The Times Top 50 Doctors 2012.

Tena Walters qualified from the Medical College of St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1983.

She was appointed Lecturer in Anatomy, and subsequently lecturer in Surgery on the Professorial Surgical Unit at Barts where she completed an MS thesis studying smooth muscle cell proliferation.  She has worked in Breast Test Wales and in the Royal National Hospital of Wales, the Heath Cardiff.

In 1996 she was appointed as a Consultant in Breast and Colorectal Surgery at Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup and became Lead Clinician of the Breast Unit in 1998 and Lead Clinician in Oncology in 2002.  In the same year she was nominated for the Hospital Doctor of the year award and gained proxime accessit in the oncology category.

Her special interests include family history of breast disease, the effects of HRT on breast tissue and the management of breast pain as well as the early diagnosis and management of breast cancer.

She joined the London Breast Clinic team in 1996.

Mr Giles Davies was educated at Harrow School and St Georges Hospital where he was awarded the William Brown and Devitt-Pendlebury Exhibition and graduated in 1997. Professor Drew qualified at St Mary’s Hospital, part of Imperial College, London, in 1990.

Dr James Mackay is the only accredited Consultant Clinical Genetic Oncologist with a special interest in cancer genetics in the UK and is an honorary senior lecturer in the Department of Biology, University College London.  His clinical interests are cancer genetics, inherited cancer, cancer screening and the introduction of complex genetic tests into clinical cancer care.

Dr Mackay established regional cancer genetics services in East Anglia and North East Thames and developed a remote cancer genetics service, using real time tele-conferencing technology, based in Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust. He holds honorary consultant contracts at several large London teaching hospitals.
 
He is the clinical principal investigator of an evaluation of regular mammography in women under 50 with a family history of breast cancer funded by the NHS Research and Development Programme. He initiated the Genetic Breast Cancer Trial, which is a trial of chemotherapy in women with breast cancer, who carry a faulty breast cancer gene. This is the first randomised trial of chemotherapy based on inherited genetic make-up in the world.

Emin Carapeti is Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon and worked as Consultant at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals. He is a Member of Council of the Section of Coloproctology of the Royal Society of Medicine, a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and an examiner in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Dr Ralph Rogers attended the University of Delaware, where he was a top college lacrosse player. After graduating with a degree in Psychology, he travelled to Europe where he completed medical training at the Catholic University of Leuven. Upon graduating medical school, Dr Rogers returned to the United States to attend the University of Maryland where he received a PhD in Exercise Physiology. He was also awarded research Fellowship from the National Institute of Health. After he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Free University of Brussels.

In his search to be the very best Dr Rogers has also gained additional diplomas and degrees, including a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Mr Black graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast medical school in 1993 and underwent his registrar training in ENT surgery at Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. He attended the Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital, New York and the European Hospital Georges Pompideau, Paris in his final year of training to further his training in thyroid surgery. In 2006 Mr Black was appointed as Head & Neck Fellow, Christchurch Public Hospital and Senior Lecturer to the University of Otago Medical School, New Zealand for 1 year until his return to the United Kingdom as Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (Otorhinolaryngology) and Thyroid Surgeon to East Kent University Hospitals Foundation Trust in 2007.

 

Mr Myles Black was awarded his first Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999 (FRCS (Otol.) and his second in Head & Neck Surgery (FRCS ORL-HNS) in 2005. Mr Myles Black is fully trained in all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgery with extensive experience both in paediatric and adult ENT disease. His subspecialist interests are thyroid, salivary gland, voice, paediatric, snoring and sinus surgery.

 

Mr Myles Black offers Minimal Access Thyroid Surgery which involves using a standard 2cm skin incision in the neck as opposed to the standard 5-10cm incision used elsewhere in the UK and Europe. In 2012 Mr Black will be commencing thyroid master class instructional courses to other Consultants in the UK and Europe in minimal access thyroid surgery.

 

Mr Black is a member of the British Association of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

After graduating in 1991, Mr Jacob became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997. He underwent higher surgical training in the south east of England and was awarded the gold medal by the Royal Society of Medicine in 2003 for an outstanding performance at the intercollegiate exit exam for Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery.

 

Mr Jacob spent a year in advanced research into laryngeal cancer culminating in a Masters degree awarded by the University of Bristol. He was awarded travelling fellowships by the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal College of Surgeons of England and used them to gain clinical experience from centres of excellence in North America.

 

Mr Jacob now works at University Hospital, Lewisham, Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich as a full time ENT Consultant. He is involved in teaching and training junior doctors and is on various teaching faculties. He is a member of the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons, British Association of Otolaryngologists, British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists and the Royal Society of Medicine.

Mr Jason Lee was educated as a scholar at both St Paul's School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.

In 1999, he qualified with a double distinction from the University of Cambridge Medical School. He undertook early surgical training at the Middlesex Hospital and subsequently went on to be awarded a postgraduate MS thesis from the University of London.

His research work looked into genetic influences on the inflammatory response to surgery. Higher Surgical training was spent in the North West Thames region, culminating in a prestigious National TIG Oncoplastic Fellowship year at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

In 2013 he was appointed as a full time Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at London North West Healthcare NHS trust, and also as an Honorary Consultant at Imperial Heathcare NHS Trust. He is a core member of the London Cancer Alliance Breast Pathway group.

Mr Kieran Power is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon based at the Royal Marsden Hospital London. He recently joined 108 Medical Chambers working in The London Skin Clinic and The London Breast Clinic teams. His special interests include:

  • Breast Reconstruction using the DIEP flap

  • Reconstruction for range of other cancers including gynecological cancer, colorectal cancer and sarcoma.

He graduated from the National University of Ireland in 2000 and completed his specialist training in 2013. Mr Power undertook part of his training in Ireland before commencing a fellowship in microvascular surgery at the Royal Marsden in 2012. He was then awarded a Scholarship by the Royal College of Surgeons to complete his training at the Melanoma Institute Australia with a fellowship in Melanoma and Surgical Oncology. He returned to the Royal Marsden as a consultant in 2014.

 

He was awarded the John Calder Medal by the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons for his work on wound healing research in 2009. He has published and presented his research nationally and internationally. He has recently been awarded a Master of Aesthetic Surgery degree by Queen Mary University of London. He is entered on the GMC Specialist Registrar for Plastic Surgery.
