MBRCP, MARH, MBAH, JHMA (Fellow), BAWMA (Fellow), ICNM (Fellow) Lic Ac, LF.Hom Ken Ward-Atherton has an exemplary NHS Healthcare Professional background. His career began at Walton Hospital Liverpool, followed by senior NHS posts at the previous Liverpool Royal Infirmary, Fazakerley Hospital (now Aintree University Hospital) Mossley Hospital and within the Community Health sector in Liverpool.
He became interested in Integrative therapies during the 1980’s, embarking initially on an Introductory course in Homeopathy at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.
He then spent a further 5 years undertaking an advanced course in Homeopathic Medicine in Stuttgart, Germany. During the past 30 years he has trained extensively in a range of other Integrated therapies both in the UK, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, Israel and the USA.
He is a respected and experienced practitioner who has completed several decades of full time clinical practice in both Allergies & Food Intolerances, Homeopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, and Psychotherapy.
His additional academic teaching background has been acknowledged by the NHS and several Universities where he has been a regular lecturer on various Complementary therapy topics.
He has lectured to both medical students, nurses and midwives. Ken Ward-Atherton has been an advisor and examiner for the Institute of Complementary & Natural Medicine London since 1990, and was published in the BMJ Open in 2011 in a nationwide Acupuncture survey sponsored by the University of York.
In December 2013 he was appointed International political advisor to the Russian Medical Leech Therapy Association (ICCHP) in Moscow. He has been a long term committee member for Elsevier Medical Publishers in London, and is actively involved politically with the Government’s ongoing incentives for Integrated Medicine.
Ken Ward-Atherton holds two National Fellowships and one International Fellowship within the areas of Integrated Medicine, he has been a Patron to the Integrated Therapies Unit at Christie Hospital NHS Trust Foundation, Manchester since 2005.
Kenneth is also a Patron of several charities supporting research for genetic illness at the University of Liverpool Medical School and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
In 2005 he was formally selected by the Department of Health (DH) to sit as a member on its expert panel, which produced the first UK Government report for Acupuncture & Herbal Medicines for the Minister of State for Health in 2008.
