What is Osteopathy? It is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
An osteopath believes that in order for your body to work well, its structure must also work well. So osteopaths aim to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery.
Professionalism and Safety In order to qualify asan osteopath, one muststudy for four or five years for an undergraduate degree, which is similar to amedical degree just with more emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletalmedicine. There is over 1,000 hours of training in osteopathic techniquealone! In the UK Osteopaths, by law mustregister with the General Osteopathic Council (or GOsC for short) whichsets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety.
Samantha who qualified from the British School of Osteopathy, opened the clinic in 2008. In 2010 she successfully joined the clinical team at the British School of Osteopathy whereshe supervises undergraduate students within the university and at theircommunity clinics. These are specialist clinics which workwith children under 5 and also outreach work for people that sleep roughin London.
