Melanie is the Principal physiotherapist with 20 years physiotherapy experience in private practice. Melanie started Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio in February 2003. She graduated from the University of South Australia in 1996 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy and completed a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in 2002. She began her career working in private practice as well as in hospitals before working over in the UK . Following this she worked for three years in a private practice/private hospital before heading off to work in the USA. Since returning she has worked in private practice, mainly in the area of sports physiotherapy. Since 2007 Melanie has become an “APA Sports Physiotherapist”, a specialist title awarded by the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Dean joined Gold Coast Sports and Spinal Physio, having moved up from Sydney where he completed his Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Originally he migrated to Australia from Vancouver, Canada where he worked as an Exercise Physiologist. He worked with individuals who sustained work and motor vehicle accidents where he did a biomechanical assessment and exercise prescription to rehabilitate them. He has a keen eye for detail in movement dysfunction being the cause of most peoples pain and injury. He has done various post-graduate courses including dry needling, to treat trigger points.

Lara is back from her travels overseas to continue work at Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio. Lara has been a physio in private practice for the past 9 years with a wealth of experience and excellent manual handling skills. Lara is a preferred provider for Medibank Private and BUPA and participates in the HCF “More for Muscles” program. Away from work Lara has a keen interest in travel and surfing which took her on her travels of late.

Dave comes to us with a wealth of experience in private practice over the past 9 years both in NZ and Australia, recently having moved up from Coffs Harbour. Dave graduated from AUT in 2007 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy and since then Dave has completed both Level 1 and Level 2 (Advanced) Dry Needling as well as McKenzie Method for the Cervical/Thoracic and Lumbar spine. He has also done many other musculoskeletal post-graduate courses to improve his manual handling skills. Dave has worked with both representative U18s Rugby and U19s Netball teams including at National Championships.
