Hand on heart, from the first session, I could feel a difference and freedom of movementThomas, Ireland, 24 08 23

Just completed 3 sessions for lower back pain & stiffness, was in the hands of ... May I say .... A very young but extremely professional guy Enda. From the moment I walked in the door I knew I was in good hands his way of explaining all the different things that can cause back pain was an eye-opener. I received laser treatment....Decompression treatment plus hands on physiotherapy plus was given certain stretches & movements to do at home. I can honestly say... Hand on heart, from the first session, I could feel a difference and freedom of movement in my lower back that I haven't felt in a long long time. Would recommended dc physiotherapy in a heartbeat.... Thank you so much, big thanks to Enda

Chronic Pain Syndrome €60
At New Leaf Acupuncture, Dublin, the aim of our treatment is to stimulate the nervous system and cause the release of neurochemical messenger molecules. The resulting biochemical changes influence the body’s homeostatic mechanisms, thus promoting physical and emotional well-being. Stimulation of certain acupuncture points has been shown to affect areas of the brain that are known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, as well as promoting relaxation and deactivating the ‘analytical’ brain, which is responsible for anxiety. Acupuncture also helps relieve chronic pain by stimulating nerves located in muscles and other tissues, which leads to release of endorphins and other neurohumoral factors (e.g. neuropeptide Y, serotonin), and changes the processing of pain in the brain and spinal cord
Sciatica Treatment €60
Back pain and sciatica can affect anyone at any age and most people will suffer from one condition at some point in their lives. Together, they are our country’s leading cause of disability and one of the main reasons for work-related sickness absence. Most lower back pain and sciatica is caused not by serious damage or disease, but by sprains, muscle strains, minor injuries, or a pinched or irritated nerve. It can also occur during pregnancy, or because of stress, viral infection or a kidney infection. Research has shown that acupuncture is very effective for back pain and it appears to be particularly useful as an adjunct to conventional care, for patients with more severe symptoms and for those wishing to avoid pain-killers. At New Leaf Acupuncture, Dublin, we can help back pain and sciatica by: providing pain relief – by stimulating nerves located in muscles and other tissues, acupuncture leads to release of endorphins and other neurohumoral factors and changes the processing of pain in the brain and spinal cord (Pomeranz 1987; Zhao 2008).reducing inflammation – by promoting release of vascular and immunomodulatory factors (Kim 2008, Kavoussi 2007;Zijlstra 2003).improving muscle stiffness and joint mobility – by increasing local microcirculation (Komori 2009), which aids dispersal of swelling and bruising.reducing the use of medication for back complaints (Thomas 2006).providing a more cost-effective treatment over a longer period of time (Radcliffe 2006;Witt 2006).improving the outcome when added to conventional treatments such as rehabilitation exercises (Ammendolia 2008; Yuan 2008).

Chronic Pain
Back Pain
Dry Needling involves multiple advances of a filament needle into the muscle in the region of a “Trigger Point’. The aim of Dry Needling is to achieve a local twitch response to release muscle tension and pain. Dry needling is an effective treatment for chronic pain of neuropathic origin with very few side effects. This technique is unequaled in finding and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits. The needle used is very thin and most subjects do not even feel it penetrate the skin. A healthy muscle feels very little discomfort with insertion of this needle. However if the muscle is sensitive and shortened or has active trigger points within it, the subject will feel a sensation like a muscle cramp -‘the twitch response’. The patient also may feel a reproduction of “their” pain which is a helpful diagnostic indicator for the practitioner attempting to diagnose the cause of the patients symptoms. Patients soon learn to recognize and even welcome this sensation as it results in deactivating the trigger point, reducing pain and restoring normal length function to the involved muscle.

Fertility Acupuncture up to €55
Increase Fertility with Acupuncture. There are many reasons why couples have difficulty conceiving - irregular menstruation, hormone imbalance, cold uterus, and low sperm count to name a few. Whatever the reason infertility can be a major cause of stress and hopelessness in otherwise healthy couples. Acupuncture combined with herbal medicine has been used for centuries to treat the causes of infertility. Acupuncture in particular has been known to dramatically increase fertility by regulating the menstrual cycle in females and invigorating and increasing sperm count in males. A German Study conducted in 2002 used two groups of women experiencing fertility difficulties, to determine the effects of acupuncture on IVF treatments. In the first group, acupuncture treatments were carried out 25 minutes before embryo transfer and 25 minutes after the embryo was inserted into the uterus. In the second group, no acupuncture treatments were given. Study findings showed a successful pregnancy rate of 42.5% in the first group of women compared to 26.3% in the second group that had no acupuncture treatments. This highlighted a significant difference of 16.2% between the two groups of women. In each Care Cure clinic, we look for the underlying problem of disharmony which is preventing conception. Treatments for fertility difficulties and male impotency usually include acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion and herbal medicines.
