About Katie Copeland Physiotherapy

This multidisciplinary practice located in the heart of Chester has six experienced and chartered physiotherapists, one expert chartered occupational therapists and a sports massage specialist. An initial assessment and physical examination is conducted at first and the problem of the patient is accurately diagnosed. Referrals are provided if greater accuracy in assessment through ultrasound scans or MRIs are requires. Treatments provided include manipulation, mobilization of soft tissues, Pilates, stretches, electrotherapy, exercise therapy and acupuncture.

Ms Katie Copeland

Biography:
She trained at Withington Hospital, Manchester qualifying in 1982. She then worked for several years in the NHS at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham and Wythenshawe Hospital Manchester gaining experience in Orthopaedic Surgery, Out-Patient Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. In 1987 she established her own private practice at 76 Lower Bridge St as well as pioneering the first Out Patient Physiotherapy Clinic at the Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital, Chester. She continued to run the two clinics until 1994 when after her second son was born she decided to concentrate on her original city centre practice. She is extremely proud the clinic has grown in its reputation and from being a sole practitioner now has six other Chartered Physiotherapists working with her.

Ms Sarah Guinan

Biography:
She qualified in 1988 from Coventry University. She has worked in various NHS Hospitals in the UK including Nottingham and Lancaster and has also spent time working in Brisbane and Canberra in Australia. Since qualifying she has gained a wealth of experience in a wide range of musculo-skeletal conditions in various settings including Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic and A&E Outpatient clinics as well as local G.P Surgeries. She worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital for some time before starting at Katie Copeland’s Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic in 2003.

Mr Matt Gouldthorpe

Biography:
He graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 1997 with a Bsc (Hons) in Sports Science. Having developed an interest in sports medicine and musculoskeletal injuries he continued with his education in this area and graduated from Liverpool University in 2001 as a qualified chartered physiotherapist. He initially worked in the NHS and gained experience in a wide range of specialities. It was during this period that Matt was able to develop his skills in sports injuries by working with the youth teams of a professional football team. This involved the treatment and rehabilitation of a variety of acute and chronic injuries. Matt also became involved in a number research projects during this time and the use of evidence based practice is essential to his treatment.
