Nick Brook has been a consultant urological surgeon at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor in Surgery at the University of Adelaide since 2009. His private practice is located on Ward Street, North Adelaide, with appointments at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital and Burnside War Memorial Hospital.
Nick completed surgical urology training in the UK, before undertaking an advanced laparoscopic and cancer fellowship placement at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane from 2008-2009.
Nick holds Fellowships of both UK (FRCS Urol) and Australasian (FRACS Urol) Colleges of Surgeons, a Doctor of Medicine higher degree by research (MD), a MBBS, and extensive basic science research training (BSc and MSc).
He is trained in all aspects of adult urology practice, and has a special interest in urological cancers. He has subspecialist experience in kidney, bladder and testicular cancer, including minimally invasive surgical treatment for kidney cancer, and an interest in modern treatment of prostate cancer with brachytherapy.
Nick also has extensive experience in the management of urological conditions in patients with complex medical problems and kidney failure.
His clinical and basic science research interests encompass novel treatments for advanced prostate cancer, and is the lead urologist on a number of clinical trials based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at numerous international meetings.
Many recent improvements in public service delivery at the Department of Urology of the Royal Adelaide have been delivered by Nick, including substantial funding arrangements to bring in nursing support for prostate cancer patients and their families.
