CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive therapy seeks to help the client overcome difficulties by identifying and changing there thinking errors, behaviour, and emotions. This involves helping patients develop skills to change beliefs, identifying thinking errors and changing behaviours. Treatment is based the collaboration between the client and the therapist. Once those thoughts have been challenged, your feelings are easier to change. I believe that most people can overcome any emotional disability by ‘Working harder’. So be prepared for some homework, as C.B.T does require you the client to record your progress and challenge your behaviour in between sessions. But it’s not just about working harder; I will help you to ‘work clever’. The techniques of C.B.T will allow you to see your world from a new angle and this often brings relief and a new found ability to change behaviour that up until now, you may have felt would never change.

Dublin Psychotherapy

62 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, D2
Rating from 15 Reviews I found his approach very respectful and full of insight at the same timeDomenico, Dublin, 20 Sep 18

I've contacted Marcello after having closed a treatment with another psychotherapist during 2017. I found here a non-judgemental place where step by step I could open myself and explain the reason/s that brought me to ask his help. I found his approach very respectful and full of insight at the same time. This gave me the opportunity to understand better my behaviour, what beliefs were limiting my social and private life. Now after almost 8 months I feel more confident in taking actions, less strict with myself and more open to experimenting my personal way to achieve my potential. With the conviction that getting better is mainly a process than a result and even sometimes I don't get what I want. I may always enjoy my path towards this progress, being less self-critical than I was before. I choose Dublin Psychotherapy mainly because as Italian I was looking for the same mother-tongue therapist.

Petra Kucan Psychologist

24 Upper Rathmines Road, Rathmines, Dublin, D6
Rating from 8 Reviews She gave me some great coping mechanismsHilaryP, Dublin, 05 Jan 18

I have been going to Petra for almost two years now. I have always struggled with depression and anxiety stemming from childhood issues. When I went to see Petra I felt at rock bottom and was having difficulty with personal problems arising from certain events. After years of trying therapists and not liking anyone, I found Petra. Petra took me in and gave me the self-confidence to accomplish things I never thought I would be able to do. She gave me some great coping mechanisms, helped me understand what I'm feeling and why and taught me so much about myself. Petra is an accomplished woman and professional and I hold her in very high esteem. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. The clinic is lovely and friendly. It's a warm and inviting building and Petra's office is the safest place in the world to me.

Psychology in Dublin

24, Rathmines Road Upper, Dublin, Dublin 6
Rating from 7 Reviews The therapy gave me different tools to deal with self-criticism and to better understand myselfAgustin, Spain, 07 Feb 18

I took psychologic therapy to deal with depression. It was a very sad moment for me was everything was uncontrolled. Nothing seemed to be relevant in my life. I lost joy, happiness and most importantly, I was unable to communicate with other people. I was involved in a self-criticism obsession that stopped me to have a normal life. The treatment helped me in different ways. First, it was a way to recognize that I had a problem and that there was no shame to talk about it. On the contrary, talking is by itself a solution to start to deal with depression. Second, the therapy gave me different tools to deal with self-criticism and to better understand myself by contrasting my ideas with real situations. Finally, I now have strong support when I feel lost by receiving treating with Beatriz who helps me deal with every doubt I have. The first thing that I took into account to choose this clinic was that Beatriz speaks Spanish. Things are easier when talking in your mother language. From the very beginning, however, language became incidental. I found a dedicated person prepared to guide me through my problems and understand my circumstances. I really recommend her if someone is in a bad moment and need help.

Waterford Cork, Dublin
Rating from 7 Reviews Amazing experienceAnne, Ireland, 30 Jul 16

Caroline is brilliant. Nothing is ever too much trouble even calling after hours. We can not thank her enough for the changes in our son who was deeply suicidal. Now we all see some hope. There is nothing out there for teenage boys on the spectrum no one understands their struggles. Amazing experience from the second we talked on the phone. We knew we had found someone who understood our son.

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy €70 - €90
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been the most widely researched therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that involves addressing a person’s problematic thinking styles and behaviors. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behaviour) all interact together. Specifically, our thoughts determine our feelings and our behavior. Therefore, negative thoughts can cause us distress and result in problems. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps people to develop alternative viewpoints in order to tackle their problems. Developing alternative viewpoints is the cornerstone of the CBT principle that there is always more than one way of seeing things and therefore a person chooses their own viewpoint. This type of therapy has been found to be helpful in: AnxietyPanic attackDepressionAcrophobia and other phobiasSocial phobiasBulimiaObsessive compulsive disorderPost traumatic stress disorderStressRelationship problems When we change the way we think for the better, this in turn, contributes to how we view and react to situations around us. It also helps to bring new clarity of thought to help make better decisions for ourselves and others.
Couples Therapy €90 - €120
What is Marriage & Relationship Counselling? Relationships can run into difficulties from time to time resulting in conflict, lack of communication and disappointment. Normal life stage events such as the birth of a new baby, redundancy, retirement, a change in work/life balance or children leaving home can also present couples with the challenge of renegotiating their expectations of themselves and each other. Counselling can teach you some valuable ways to improve and enhance communication skills and to work through difficult emotions to achieve clarity, understanding and connection. Elmwood Centre offers relationship counselling in a safe and comfortable environment to co-habiting, married and same sex couples. We provide the space for couples to talk, listen and be heard. By working with a counsellor who possesses empathy and professional expertise, couples feel supported while working through the challenges in their intimate relationship. While being aware of the uniqueness of each individual, we also have the skills and experience to hear both sides of the story in complete confidence, without judgement and without taking sides. The relationship you wish to explore may be past, present or in the future, and we invite you, alone or with your partner, to avail of the opportunity to explore, understand and transform your relationships.

Area Mentis Psychotherapy

1A Swanville Place, Rathmines, Dublin, d6
The Area Mentis Centre provides psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and psychological services for any individual experiencing mental pain. Our practitioners have dedicated their lives to the study of how people think, act and communicate.Talking is the cornerstone of the treatment the purpose of which is to learn about oneself. Through this process, practitioners help people to identify the source of their problems and address them. Each individual's treatment is characterised by an intensely personalised approach, greatly increasing the probability of change This treatment effects change through regular weekly sessions, in which the relationship between practitioner and client supports a therapeutic discourse. During treatment, the client develops insight and self-awareness, integrating those past events that may have been traumatic or unsayable into a coherent narrative. Supported by the relationship to the therapist/analyst, the individual can scrutinize the stress and suffering in their lives within the context of their life-history: where it originates, how it is manifested and what coping behaviours have evolved to deal with it.

EFT Dublin

4 Tower Avenue, Rathgar, Rathgar, 6
Using the body’s acupuncture meridian system, EFT or tapping as it is more commonly referred to, is a technique where you tap with your fingertips on acupressure meridian points as a way of releasing stress, anxiety and negative beliefs. The body, like everything in the universe, is composed of energy. All negative emotions that we have are felt through a disruption of our body’s energy. When you restore balance to the body’s energy, you mend the negative emotions and physical symptoms that stem from the energy disruption. By tapping on selected acupressure points, and focusing on the negative emotion, you are tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power, restoring the body’s energy balance and releasing negative emotions. From pain relief to healing childhood trauma, to clearing limiting financial beliefs, to weight loss, body image and food cravings, to fears and phobias, tapping is a powerful and effective technique.
